Automatic Braking will soon be standard, But ‘Phantom Braking’ is still a problem.
NHTSA’s investigation will cover the 2017 and 2018 Rogue after some 850 complaints of false activation of the SUV’s automatic braking – the results of which have reportedly been 14 crashes and five injuries. Jason Levine of the Center for Auto Safety also told CBS that people were beginning to turn the system off, which added to the incentive for these agencies to resolve the matter and “move towards a recall very quickly.”
